Morrisons store plan for Baildon

Baildon Business Park developer Pendle Russells has submitted plans for a new convenience store in Baildon, following discussions with Morrisons.

The convenience store will be located on Otley Road at the entrance to the new £15m business park, and a detailed planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council’s planning department. The application outlines the detailed design and layout for the 3,000 sq ft store, 1,300 sq ft storage area and 15 car parking spaces. Its location will allow the store to serve both the local community and employees working on the business park.

Mark Taylforth from Pendle Russells said: “We’re delighted to have submitted the planning application. The new store will be a great addition to the business park and will provide a number of new jobs for the local area, which is one of our main aims.”

The construction of two large buildings for the site’s first two buyers is well underway by Russells Construction, which cut the first sod in August 2014. Set for completion this June is a 15,000 sq ft unit for surgical equipment manufacturer Anetic Aid, along with an adjoining 14,000 sq ft unit which is currently under negotiation by the agents. By the end of the summer, the team will also hand over a 28,000 sq ft facility for precision-engineering firm Produmax.

Mark Taylforth added: “Over the next few months we will see the completion of the Anetic Aid and Produmax buildings, plus the entrance road and hopefully the start of the new retail unit. Progress on site is really coming along well and we look forward to announcing more tenants and occupiers throughout the summer.”

The 15-acre site will eventually house a total 150,000 sq ft of business space. It already has planning for B1, B2 and ancillary B8 units up to 60,000 sq ft, and agents are in discussion with a number of potential occupiers for the remaining plots.
